The British Council invites English language teachers to join an upcoming webinar focused on task design and assessment in language teaching, with particular attention to the role of the CEFR Companion Volume (CV) and the integration of AI in assessment.
Webinar: Task Design and Assessment in Language Teaching: How the CEFR Companion Volume Can Help
Description: This webinar is designed for teachers of English. In this session, our assessment expert, Dr Carolyn Westbrook, will discuss designing tasks for both formative and summative assessment in English language teaching, both building in and designing out the use of AI. Using the mediation and interaction descriptors from the CEFR Companion Volume (CV), she will then demonstrate how these descriptors can help teachers to design tasks at the right level for their students and how the descriptors can be used in the creation of a rating scale to assess language tasks. Participants will brainstorm ideas for a task, selecting the descriptors from the CV that could be used to design a rating scale to assess performance on the task.
The webinar will be held on October 8, 2026 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm via Zoom. To reserve a slot, register at this link: https://bit.ly/
