UP Manila 2021 Accreditation Visit

The University of the Philippines Manila College of Medicine underwent its virtual program accreditation last October 14-15, 2021.  The College is the first institution to be visited that used the newly revised Basic Medical Education Instrument in its self-assessment and the drafting of its self-survey report. The new instrument is based on the 23 PAASCU Standards of Quality that are principles-based.  Each of the standards is supported by criteria, an explanation, a set of guide questions, and a list of suggested evidence. 

The PAASCU survey team organized various preparatory meetings with the key school administrators from the College of Medicine, including the school’s Quality Assurance and IT Officers, to ensure the smooth conduct of the visit. The team was chaired by Dr. Reynaldo A. Olazo, Dean of College of Medicine, Fatima University, who took charge of the area on External Relations, Dr. Rey H. Delos Reyes, Dean of School of Medicine, FEU-Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation, on Leadership and Governance, Dr. Norbert Lingling D. Uy, Dean of the College of Medicine, University of the East-Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, Inc., on Quality Assurance, Dr. Joselito F. Villaruz, President of West Visayas State University, on Resource Management, Dr. Agaton T. Panopio, Jr., Graduate School Professor, Xavier University Ateneo de Cagayan, on Teaching-Learning, Dr. Peter S. Aznar, Dean of School of Medicine, Southwestern University, on Student Services, and Dr. Melina A. Atienza, Professor of Pediatrics, University of Santo Tomas on Research. The team was constituted by the PAASCU Commission on Medical Education chaired by Dr. Ramon L. Arcadio.

PAASCU congratulates the University and the College under the leadership of Dr. Carmencita Padilla, Chancellor, Dr. Charlotte Chiong, Dean, and Dr. Coralie Therese Dimacali, Associate Dean for Academic Development, on being the first medical school to use the new instrument while having the Virtual Program Accreditation (VPA) visit.
