The PAASCU Commission on Medical Education, represented by Dr. Hilda Dina Gonzales and Dr. Melinda Atienza, participated in the second Asia Medical Education Accreditation Agencies (AMAA) Forum held on March 5-6, 2025, in Taipei, Taiwan. The forum aimed to promote the exchange of ideas and best practices among medical education accrediting agencies across Asia that the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME) recognizes.

During the event, Dr. Gonzales delivered a presentation on “Medical Education and Accreditation in the Philippines,” providing a comprehensive overview of the Philippine medical education system. She covered topics such as its structure, the number of medical schools, and curriculum design while also shedding light on PAASCU’s accreditation processes, criteria, key achievements, and the challenges faced in maintaining high-quality medical education.

The participation of Dr. Gonzales and Dr. Atienza in the AMAA Forum offered valuable insights into the Philippine medical education system, underscoring PAASCU’s dedication to continuous improvement and international collaboration in medical education. The exchange of knowledge and experiences with other accrediting bodies will undoubtedly help elevate medical education standards across Asia.
