PAASCU visits OUM

From March 8-15, 2025, a team of accreditors from the Commission on Medical Education traveled to Brisbane and Samoa for the resurvey of the Doctor of Medicine (MD), Graduate-Entry Bachelor of Medicine, and Bachelor of Surgery programs at Oceania University of Medicine. The team was led by Dr. Joselito Villaruz, responsible for the Leadership and Governance area; Dr. Martin Graciano Baquiran, overseeing Quality Assurance, Research, and Research Results; Dr. Hilda Gonzales, in charge of Resource Management and Financial and Competitiveness Results; Dr. Rey Delos Reyes, focusing on Teaching-Learning and Educational Results; and Dr. Isidro Sia, responsible for Student Services, External Relations, and Community Engagement and Service Results. Ms. Alma Princess Credo accompanied the team as PAASCU Representative.

The visit followed the standard accreditation process, which included interviews with key school officials, faculty, students, and alumni. The team also had the opportunity to observe classes and visit the university’s community partners, clinics, and hospitals.
